Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Gen Townsend is an artist and facilitator in arts and advocacy spaces. She lives in Melbourne/Naarm on the stolen lands of the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung peoples of the Kulin nation. Having studied Sociology, Gen makes use of research tools and facilitation techniques in her installations, soft-sculptures, and events. Her practice involves play to ease into vulnerable reflections and challenging conversations. Gen often uses satire in attempts to poke and shift - within herself and the community – harmful power dynamics, prejudices, and individualism.

I acknowledge and pay respect to the Traditional Custodians and Elders - past, present and emerging, of the lands on which I work and create. I recognise Aboriginal connection to material and creative practice on these lands for more than 60,000 years, and acknowledge that soverignty was never ceded. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
